Disneyland 2015: Part 1

For a full year we planned this Disneyland trip.  We saved and saved and saved all year and made it possible to take our kids...a dream come true for me!  This was by far the most anticipated thing we have ever had to wait for.  The kids really had no idea what Disneyland was but we told them so much about it and their anticipation was crazy!  They were so excited.  And when you know about something like this for a full year, when the time comes to go it almost feels unreal.  The day before we left I spent the entire day trying to figure out what was wrong with our air conditioner.  Bottom line...it was dead.  So about 12 hours before hitting the road we ended up bagging the van and borrowing my dad's Traverse.  Driving down to LA in August with no a/c wasn't really an option for us.  But we made it and had an amazing week!  Here are pictures from the beginning of our trip!

Not far into the drive Madelynn had to go to the bathroom.  That's why we packed along the little potty.  I was not going to take this little girl into rest stop bathrooms.  I'd rather do it like this.

It was a LOOOOOONNNNGGG drive!

We made it!  Our place was awesome!  Thanks to my dad and Lori and their timeshare through Worldmark we had a huge three bedroom place.  Plenty of room for all of us.  It was the five of us, my dad and stepmom, brother and his girlfriend.

The kids were so excited!  They even loved the elevator!  Right after we arrived we went up to the roof to look at Disneyland.

Next to our resort is the Gardenwalk.  It's just an outdoor shopping area with restaurants.  We all had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen after we got there.  Grandpa bought the kids balloon animals too.

While I put the younger two kids to bed Jay took Carter swimming.

The most anticipated moment!  We walked in the gates of Disneyland!  The kids still had no idea what they were in for.

I should mention...
It was SO HOT!  Almost 100 degrees the first day we were at Disneyland.  It was fairly miserable!  But we didn't care because we were at Disneyland!  We were red and sweaty the entire week basically.  But loved every minute of it.  The kids did get grumpy here and there.  Kids don't always handle heat super well and it comes out in grumpy behavior.  But overall they did really well.  They were hot and extremely tired the entire week and still did amazingly well under the circumstances.

Madelynn was super nervous to meet the characters.

Walking down Main Street!

First time on the tea cups.  This was probably Madelynn's FAVORITE ride!  She rode it many, many times and was always asking to ride it again.

This sweet boy was amazing!  He was four months old for this trip and spent the entire week hanging out in the stroller or the front pack.  He slept great in the stroller and loved just hanging out.

It's a Small World!  Both the kids loved this ride too!  Definitely another one of Madelynn's favorites!  It was also the adults' favorite ride because it was inside the a/c.  When we couldn't take the heat any longer we would go ride this one and cool down!

Meeting Goofy!  Madelynn did NOT like Goofy!

Look at Madelynn watching him during the picture.  She wasn't going to take her eyes off of him.

I love how Carter is telling me something so emphatically in this next picture!  He loved the Dumbo ride!  It took a while but later in the week we finally got Madelynn on this ride and she loved it too.

So HOT!  The first day we were there was the hottest day the area had all summer.

The fan helped!  However, we didn't want to pay the money for two and they fought over it the entire week.  But we needed it.  And we probably should have just forked out the extra $20 for a second one.  Next time we are going to just bring some from home!

Minnie ears!  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

The Lego store in Downtown Disney.

Waiting to race his lego car he made.  He won too!  I love this picture of my boys.  My sweet husband with Mason asleep on him and his hand on his oldest.  This is love right here.

Part 2 coming soon!
