Madelynn's First Birthday

We had Madelynn's first birthday party the Saturday before her birthday.  I did the theme of pink and had appetizer type food.  We invited our family and just a couple friends.  It was pretty low key.  Every once in a while I wish I had done her party a little bigger and invited more people but I did put a lot of time into planning it and we just enjoyed celebrating our sweet girl.  So I need to let that go!

This is her flirty, cute smile that she does for everyone right now...
I am pretty much in love with it.

Some of the decorations...
I did a banner with some pictures for the mantle of the fireplace.

I made a big #1 out of pictures of her whole first year of life.

Carter was teaching Grandma how to play games on the Kindle.

Present time...
Carter enjoyed this time more than Madelynn did.

But she loved all the cards.

First bite of cake...
She ate a little frosting and then was done.  So she technically has still never had cake.

The guys watching something funny on the Kindle.

Madelynn and Aaron were having fun.  She likes to pretend to hand something to someone and then trick them and pull it away.  She gets the biggest kick out of that.

The Grumbo family.  We were glad they could come!  We hadn't seen then in a while.

Madelynn's actual birthday...
March 20, 2013

We took the kids to breakfast at Sassy Onion.  She got to eat her very first pancake and scrambled eggs.  She loved them.

Then we did our presents for her.  We got her Minnie Mouse, a sippy cup, and a little dolly.  Carter got her a frog stuffed animal.

She loved Minnie.

After her morning nap (which she actully took, woohoo!) the kids took a bath and then we did pictures down at Picture People for her 12 month pictures and some family pictures too.

After pictures we took them down to the carousel.  This was Madelynn's first ride on the carousel.  Carter got to ride for the very first time on his first birthday too.  Kind of a fun tradition for us.  She did okay but wasn't overly excited about it.  She seemed a little nervous at times.  She has always been a little more sensitive then Carter.

Carter kind of likes Mickey and Minnie.  I think he may think Minnie was for him.  :)

Happy first birthday Madelynn!  We love you!
