Madelynn's One Year Photo Shoot

The day before Easter, on a beautiful Saturday after the Easter egg hunt, we took the kids down to the capital to snap some pictures of the kids and the cherry blossom trees.  I focused on Madelynn so that this could be her one year photo shoot but we did get a few of Carter too.  Madelynn is still easier to take pictures of because Carter has no interest in them whatsoever.

I pretty much think the world of this little lady!

This is the cutest thing she does right now...tilts her head and gives an adorable smile and flirts with everyone.

"Okay, mama, I am done with pictures!"

Carter loved splashing in the water.

I adore Madelynn's face in the bottom picture.  She is looking at me with a huge smile and even waving to me.

Easter Egg Hunt

Our church does an annual Easter egg hunt.  This is Carter's second time going and he loves it!  This year he actually understood what to do rather than grab and egg and then throw it back on the ground over and over.  Ya, fun game but it sure doesn't get you much candy very fast.  This year he collected quite a few eggs and had a blast doing it.

Next year Madelynn will get to participate too.  Last year on this day I had a two week old baby girl in the front pack on me and helped Carter collect eggs while also taking pictures.  Jay ended up working so I did it on my own.  That was my first big adventure as a mom of two without help.  This year we were fortunate to have Jay with us.

First Hike as a Family of Four

We finally went hiking with both our kids at Silver Falls a few weeks back on a beautiful sunny day.  The kids were amazing!  We did a long hike too!  Carter walked most of it and only whined about his legs being tired a little.  He would actually say that his legs were ready to go to bed.  We finally figured out that he was saying that his legs were tired.  We thought that was pretty cute!

Don't worry, she didn't actually ride in the back of the van in her backpack.  :)  She did great too!  Except that she went the entire day without a nap.  We attempted a nap in the morning before our hike, no luck.  We decided it didn't matter because she would sleep on the way to Silver Falls, right?  No such luck.  The we thought oh well, because she will sleep on Jays back eventually.  No such luck.  Then we thought surely she would sleep on the way home from sheer exhaustion.  No such luck.  So we attempted a late afternoon nap when we got home and still, no such luck.  Crazy girl!  She was in bed asleep at 6:30 that evening.
